MKR test unit: prove it on your own liquid before you invest

Every liquid behaves differently in an evaporator. That is why we recommend a step-by-step proof of concept, and 50 % of all trial costs are credited when you order a plant:

1. Laboratory test (2 litres): EUR 450. First check of evaporation behaviour, pH and limits.

2. In-house trial in our technical centre: EUR 5,000. Continuous evaporation of up to 4 m³ of your liquid over up to one week. This is where blocking and fouling become visible. You are welcome to visit.

3. MKR test unit on your site. Continuous operation on your liquid, under real conditions.

A test can also show that a route does not fit, and that is exactly what it is for.

Example: the operator of our German MVR reference went from a 2-litre lab test and a 1 m³ trial to an on-site test with the MKR test unit, and then ordered an MVR15.

Test unit

Electrically driven MVR evaporator, 80 to 100 l/h feed, fully automatic, designed for continuous operation. Optional vapour scrubber in stainless steel with acid dosing and pH control that binds ammonia as ammonium sulphate solution. Foam control as standard: mechanical defoamer, plus automatic antifoam dosing triggered by a foam probe when needed.

Peripherals: suction station with safe IBC withdrawal and level measurement, pH adjustment tank, bag filter, IBC filling stations for concentrate and ASL, distillate handling.

What the test shows

Concentration factor, distillate quality, foaming and scaling behaviour, cleaning, ammonia transfer to the scrubber. Energy figures from the test unit are not representative of full-scale plants.

Operation and remote monitoring

Lab and in-house trials are carried out by MKR. The test unit on site is commissioned by MKR service and then operated by your trained staff. Remote monitoring is standard: we record the operating data, support your team and adjust the settings to your liquid.

Site requirements

Approx. 6.3 x 5.4 m for the complete set-up. 400 V three-phase supply (55 A at the evaporator, 63 A upstream fuse). Compressed air 6 to 8 bar. Fresh water 1" with backflow protection to EN 1717 category 4. Exhaust line laid rising. Ambient 5 to 35 °C, non-condensing. Feed pre-filtered to 350 µm, pH 6.5 to 11; limits for chloride and fluoride apply and are checked in the lab test.

Rental terms (net, ex works Monheim, as of October 2026)

  • Minimum rental period: 4 weeks

  • Evaporator: EUR 1,290 per week

  • Vapour scrubber: EUR 1,540 per week

  • Commissioning on site by MKR service: EUR 925 per day plus travel

  • Refurbishment and final cleaning: EUR 820

  • Freight at cost; outside the EU, customs clearance at cost. Available across Europe.

50 % of the rent (excluding transport) is credited if you order a plant within three months after the end of the test.

One to two test units are in rotation, so please book early. Test units are regularly sold afterwards as nearly new used plants.

What we need to plan your test

Type of liquid, annual volume in m³, an analysis (dry solids, ammonium nitrogen, chloride, pH), a sample for the lab test and the country of your site. Send it to info@mkr-cleanwater.de.

FAQ

Can I test MVR evaporation on my own liquid before buying a plant?

Yes. MKR Cleanwater offers a three-step proof of concept: a laboratory test with 2 litres (EUR 450), an in-house trial in our technical centre with up to 4 m³ of your liquid over up to one week (EUR 5,000), and the MKR test unit, an electric MVR evaporator with 80 to 100 l/h, rented on your site from EUR 1,290 per week (minimum 4 weeks). All prices net. 50 % of the trial costs are credited when you order a plant.

Who operates the test unit on site?

MKR service commissions the unit and trains your staff, who then operate it. Remote monitoring is standard: MKR records the operating data, supports your team and adjusts the settings to your liquid.

What do you need from me to plan a test?

Type of liquid, annual volume in m³, an analysis with dry solids, ammonium nitrogen, chloride and pH, a sample for the laboratory test and the country of the site. Send it to info@mkr-cleanwater.de.

Are the energy figures of the test unit representative of a full-scale plant?

No. The small test unit is less efficient than a full-scale plant. The test shows concentration factor, distillate quality, foaming, scaling, cleaning and ammonia transfer to the scrubber. Full-scale MVR plants run at 22.5 litres of distillate per kWh of electricity (approx. 44 kWh per m³), measured for the whole plant at the control cabinet.
